...supporting the pastors, clergy, coordinators of
youth and young adult ministry and the parish communities of the Archdiocese of Newark, NJ.
The Covid health crisis has brought many challenges, not least of all rises in anxiety, depression, and substance abuse caused by isolation and the constant stress of living through a pandemic. Although some cases require the intervention of trained mental health professionals, Catholic parishes, schools, and communities can play an important role in supporting people in the midst of these challenges, especially as concerns the spiritual dimension of suffering.
This event brought together three expert panelists - clinical therapist Danielle Heitmann, addiction counselor Keaton Douglas, and catechetical leader Dr. Patrick Manning. The panelists, speaking from a faith perspective, will share insights into the challenges faced by Catholics during Covid as well as practical resources and strategies for dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, and suicidal ideation in the context of Catholic schools and parishes.

Cardinal Tobin has presented "Forward in Faith Together: Our Road Ahead". This is the Cardinal's Pastoral Vision for the Archdiocese of Newark. It seeks to establish a positive path forward for the faithful, the clergy, and the Archdiocese while simultaneously addressing crucial challenges of the past and present.
The "A Light in Darkness Sessions" looks to help support all six pillars that Cardinal Tobin has outlined.
